Looking for a flexible way to earn extra income doing something you love?

We Wag Toronto is looking for an experienced, reliable, and adaptable dog walker to join our team as a dedicated coverage walker.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who loves dogs, enjoys being active outdoors, and wants to earn additional income without committing to a regular, fixed dog walking route.

Unlike our regular walkers, who are assigned recurring clients in specific neighbourhoods, our coverage walkers help fill in wherever extra support is needed.

Some weeks may be busy, with opportunities available Monday through Friday. Other weeks may have only a handful of walks.

This position is best suited to someone who already has another source of income and is looking for adaptable, supplemental work.

This could be an excellent opportunity for someone who is self-employed, operates their own business, has a flexible daytime schedule, or simply wants to supplement their existing income. Availability & Scheduling

Most of our dog walking services take place Monday through Friday, approximately 10 AM to 3 PM.

We are looking for someone who:

- Has regular flexibility during weekday daytime hours.
- Is interested in accepting coverage assignments as they become available.
- Can sometimes accommodate short-notice requests.




- Is comfortable with a schedule that changes from week to week.
- May be available for multiple days of walking during busier weeks.
- Is interested in working with us for at least the next six months.

Important: This is not a guaranteed Monday-to-Friday position. You will not necessarily be walking every day, and the number of available assignments will fluctuate. As an independent contractor, you can accept or decline offered assignments based on your availability.

Location & Transportation

Our coverage walkers help support clients across different Toronto neighbourhoods rather than working exclusively within one area.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable travelling between neighbourhoods when needed.

- Access to a vehicle is a definite asset but not required.
- Public transit or other reliable transportation is perfectly acceptable.
- You must be able to travel independently between the client locations for assignments you accept.
- Dogs are never transported in your vehicle. Transportation is only required to get yourself between client locations.

Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who:
- Absolutely loves dogs!
- Has experience handling and walking dogs of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments.
- Is confident handling large, strong dogs.
- Has a good understanding of canine behaviour and body language.
- Is physically fit and enjoys walking outdoors.
- Is comfortable walking in all types of weather.
- Is honest, trustworthy, responsible, and detail-oriented.
- Is adaptable and comfortable meeting new dogs and following individual care instructions.
- Is reliable and takes commitments seriously.
- Communicates clearly and responds promptly to messages regarding potential assignments.
- Has a flexible lifestyle and understands that this opportunity provides variable supplemental income rather than consistent weekly earnings.

Professional dog walking experience is preferred but not mandatory.



If you have other relevant experience handling dogs, we'd love to hear about it. You must have dog experience! Please note that we do not take dogs to dog parks or walk dogs off-leash. Our services involve active, on-leash walking for the duration of each scheduled walk.

Compensation & Independent Contractor Arrangement

This is an independent contractor opportunity, not an hourly employee position.

- Compensation is paid at an agreed rate per completed dog walking service.
- Coverage walkers receive higher per-service rates than our regular dog walkers.
- The number of services offered varies based on client demand, scheduling needs, and availability.
- Contractors are responsible for travelling to and from client locations.
- Travel time between locations is not separately compensated. Please consider travel distances when deciding which assignments to accept.
- There is no guaranteed minimum number of services or weekly income.
