Door Service Technician

Door Gurus Edmonton West is growing and we're looking for an experienced, mechanically strong service technician to join our field team.

This is not a general labour position.

We want someone who can arrive at a door that isn't working properly, figure out why, determine the right repair and complete clean, professional work.

If you have experience in carpentry, renovations, doors, garage doors, overhead doors, locksmithing, commercial hardware or another mechanical service trade, we want to talk.

WHAT YOU GET

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON Our technicians service, repair and install:
- Residential entry and exterior doors
- Interior doors
- Patio and sliding doors
- Storm and screen doors
- Light commercial doors
- Garage and overhead doors
- Door frames and jambs
- Hinges, strikes, thresholds, sweeps and weatherstripping
- Locks, handles and electronic hardware
- Commercial closers and door hardware
- Garage door rollers, tracks, operators and openers

You'll also complete light carpentry and finishing work including shimming, trimming, blocking, alignment and fitment adjustments. Some jobs are installations.



Others require real troubleshooting.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for someone who:
- Has strong mechanical aptitude
- Is confident with hand and power tools
- Can troubleshoot independently
- Takes pride in clean, professional workmanship
- Communicates well with customers
- Is reliable and organized
- Can document work using a phone or tablet
- Can safely perform active field work and lift up to 75 lb

2+ years of hands-on trade, construction or service experience is preferred. Relevant experience may include carpentry, renovations, door installation, garage doors, overhead doors, locksmithing, commercial hardware, maintenance or field service.

REQUIREMENTS

- Valid driver's licence and acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass a criminal record check
- Comfortable working in customer homes and businesses
- Professional communication skills
- English required
- Previous employer references
- Trade certification is an asset, not a requirement
