Estimator – Commercial Roofing & Building Envelope

RBS is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator with strong technical knowledge of commercial roofing, waterproofing and building-envelope/exterior construction. The role will focus primarily on new construction estimating, with occasional retrofit and restoration projects, generally in the $1M–$5M range across commercial, institutional, industrial and public-sector markets.

The successful candidate must be highly proficient in reading architectural and structural drawings, specifications and construction details, completing accurate digital quantity takeoffs, developing detailed estimates, and coordinating supplier and subcontractor pricing for multi-scope exterior construction packages.

Responsibilities

Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, addenda and bid requirements; perform detailed digital takeoffs; develop material, labour, equipment and subcontractor pricing; solicit and level trade quotations; identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks, RFIs and value-engineering opportunities; and prepare complete bid summaries, qualifications and pricing for internal review.

The estimator will manage multiple active bids, coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors, participate in tender reviews, and assist with project handover to operations and project management.

Technical Experience & Knowledge

Strong working knowledge of commercial roofing and waterproofing systems is required, including SBS, BUR, EPDM, TPO, insulation, tapered insulation, vapour barriers, air barriers, flashings, sheet metal,



terrace/balcony waterproofing and related membrane systems.

Broader building-envelope knowledge should include EIFS, stucco, cladding, siding, architectural panels, insulation, air/vapour barrier systems, windows and doors, balconies, masonry, concrete restoration and related exterior construction assemblies. The estimator should understand how these systems interface and be capable of quantifying, scoping and pricing complete exterior packages.

Qualifications

Demonstrated commercial construction estimating experience with strong ability to read and interpret plans, elevations, sections, details and specifications; advanced quantity takeoff skills; experience with digital takeoff/estimating software; robust numerical and analytical ability; familiarity with commercial tendering and subcontractor/supplier coordination; and the ability to independently manage estimates in the $1M–$5M range. Ontario construction experience is preferred.

Compensation will be based on experience, technical knowledge and demonstrated estimating capability.

Pay: $75,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
