What you'll do

- Greet customers, answer questions, and help them choose the right product with recommendations and preparation tips
- Gut, scale, bone, fillet, and portion whole fish and shellfish to Pelican's standards and health regulations
- Select, weigh, and package product to order, and record and fulfill customer orders accurately
- Keep displays full, fresh, rotated, and looking their best to drive sales
- Run the register and handle cash and card transactions
- Help with opening and closing procedures and keep inventory levels accurate
- Keep cutting areas, scales, and prep surfaces clean and sanitized, including sweeping and mopping
- Pitch in with the Grill and the rest of the team when it's busy

What we're looking for

- Experience cutting fish or working a seafood, butcher, or deli counter is a robust asset; we will train the right person
- Comfortable and safe with knives
- Friendly, prompt, and genuinely happy to serve people
- Able to follow instructions, solve problems, and work well as part of a team
- Basic math for weighing, pricing, and cash handling
- 18 years of age or older
- Food Handler's Certificate and WHMIS, or willingness to obtain them before starting

Working conditions





- On your feet for extended periods
- Regular lifting and carrying of product up to 50 lb
- Working in a refrigerated environment (roughly 0°C to 7°C)
- Frequent interaction with customers and coworkers

Job Type: Full-time Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 44.0 per week
