The company An early-stage home decor e-commerce company in Toronto, backed by an established business in the industry. Funded, with real inventory and supplier relationships from day one.

The role The company's first engineer and technical owner. This person will take existing working prototypes and turn them into a production-grade website and platform, owning architecture, hosting, and build-vs-buy decisions.

The work covers two areas:

- E-commerce platform: catalog, search, accounts, checkout, and order fulfillment
- Visualization: photorealistic product imagery generated on GPU servers

Must-haves

- 5+ years of software engineering, including at least one e-commerce or marketplace product shipped to real users
- Strong modern web stack (React/Next.js or similar, Postgres, APIs, cloud hosting)
- Hands-on experience with 3D graphics or rendering (Unreal, Unity,



Three.js, Blender, or a rendering pipeline)
- Daily use of AI coding tools, with the judgment to review and improve AI-written code
- Has been an early or founding engineer who owned decisions end-to-end
- Explains technical tradeoffs clearly to non-technical founders

Strong pluses

- Experience at a 3D commerce, room visualizer, product configurator, or architectural visualization company
- Python image pipelines or generative AI image tools
- Print-on-demand or made-to-order fulfillment integrations

Pay: $61,300.00-$144,000.00 per year
