Overview

This position is accountable for supervising and directing, and assisting greenhouse staff and ensuring operations are performed accurately and on time in the J1 facility. It aims to achieve established quality, productivity, and operational cost/efficiency objectives.

Responsibilities

- Ensure the timely and accurate packing, labelling, and shipping of J1 Greenhouse products are filled to specified levels within targeted completion dates and acceptable quality parameters.
- Provide continual updates and documentation on daily products gathered for outgoing orders and track incoming orders.
- Coordinate daily activity for the entire team to include preparation and setup of products and materials necessary for the assembly of the production schedule.
- Advise the purchasing team regarding availability, quality, purchase order conflicts and clarifications.
- Provide backup support for CFIA audits.
- Participate in the on-call rotation.
- Provide field support during Peony season.

People and Labour Management

- Supervise the assignment and rotation of work responsibilities within the area of responsibility.
- Responsible for labour hour inputs and producing a report on labour efficiency every day.
- Communicate daily plans to all team members.
- Monitor activity throughout the day to ensure all necessary activities are complete before the end of the day/required time.
- Ensure the team knows what activities must be done during the downtime.
- Engage the team in continual process improvement ideas and initiatives.




- Provide input and direction during the performance review process.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.

Health and Safety

- Ensure adherence to all Occupational Health and Safety and housekeeping policies and guidelines, such as completing monthly workplace audits, accident prevention and investigation, employee training, and policy compliance.

Experience

- Minimum 3-5 years of greenhouse experience
- 1 year in a supervisorial/management position
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask
- Prior knowledge of production scheduling practices
- Working knowledge of basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Ability to influence and adapt to continuous improvement-driven changes within the department and organization.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that is subject to numerous schedule and priority changes.
