Windsor
Location: Windsor–Essex, Ontario
Employment Type: Part-Time / Casual, Hourly
Company: WindsorEvents.ca
Are you the kind of person who can measure something properly, use basic tools, load a truck efficiently, assemble equipment, and figure out how to solve practical problems without needing someone to walk you through every step?
WindsorEvents.ca is looking for a handy, mechanically inclined person to help with event setup, equipment transportation, maintenance, and other practical work.
This isn't a traditional residential handyman position. You won't be spending your day fixing faucets or patching drywall.
Think of it as being the hands-on person behind our events.
What You'll Do
Your work may include
- Picking up and transporting event equipment
- Loading and unloading trucks and vans
- Measuring venues and laying out event spaces
- Using tape measures and floor plans to accurately position equipment
- Setting up and tearing down tables, displays, signage, barriers, tents, and other event infrastructure
- Assembling and disassembling equipment
- Using basic hand and power tools
- Making minor repairs to event equipment
- Maintaining and organizing equipment between events
- Picking up materials and supplies
- Moving equipment between venues and storage locations
- Troubleshooting things that break or don't fit as expected
- Helping solve practical problems during event setup
- Supporting event crews during setup and teardown
The Person We're Looking For We're less concerned about your exact previous job title than whether you're actually handy.
You should
- Know how to use a tape measure accurately
- Be comfortable working with basic tools
- Be physically capable of lifting and moving equipment
- Understand how to load and secure equipment safely
- Have valuable spatial and mechanical reasoning
- Be able to follow a floor plan or diagram
- Notice when something isn't right
- Be able to figure out practical solutions
- Take care of tools, vehicles, and equipment
- Be reliable and punctual
You might currently work—or have previously worked—as a:
- Handyman or maintenance worker
- Construction or trades helper
- General labourer
- Mover
- Delivery driver
- Warehouse worker
- Landscaper
- Facilities or property-maintenance worker
- Event setup/teardown worker
Formal trades certification is not required. Have a Truck or Van?
Even better.
We frequently need equipment transported between storage locations and event venues.
Candidates with access to a pickup truck, cargo van, cube van, trailer, or similar vehicle are strongly preferred.
Tell us what you drive when you apply.
Hours
This is part-time/casual hourly work scheduled around our events and operational needs.
Some shifts may involve a few hours of equipment movement or preparation. Others may involve a longer event setup or teardown.
Evening, weekend, and occasional early-morning availability is valuable.
Hours vary, and no minimum number of weekly hours is guaranteed.
What Matters Most
We don't need someone with an impressive corporate resume.
We need someone who can be told:
"Here's the equipment. Here's the floor plan. Here are the measurements. This needs to be set up here."
—and can take it from there.
If you're practical, dependable, comfortable doing physical work, and generally the person people call when something needs to be moved, assembled, measured, fixed, or figured out, we'd like to hear from you.
To Apply
Please send
- A resume or brief description of your work experience
- Your general availability
- Whether you have a valid driver's license

- A short description of your experience with tools, repairs, construction, moving, equipment, or other hands-on work
Pay: $22.00 per hour
