BuLa Millwrights is looking for an experienced HSE & QA/QC Coordinator to lead our safety program and further develop our quality processes. This person will be based in our Red Deer office and work directly with management, field supervisors, and millwright crews to keep our people, projects, and documentation ready for work.

BuLa provides industrial millwright services specializing in rotating equipment, including turbines, compressors, pumps, and gearboxes. We need someone who understands industrial field work and can turn requirements into practical processes that crews use and management can rely on.

Responsibilities

- Manage and improve BuLa’s safety manual, policies, safe work procedures, formal hazard assessments, and annual HSE action plan.
- Maintain our COR program, prepare for audits, coordinate auditors, monitor progress, and follow corrective actions through to completion.
- Manage WorkHub, including orientations, training and certification records, submitted forms, inspections, incident records, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate worker and subcontractor onboarding, site requirements, training, and competency records so crews are ready to mobilize.
- Track upcoming and overdue worker certifications, equipment inspections, maintenance, calibration, and other compliance requirements. Provide clear reports to management.
- Maintain client compliance portals such as ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, and Avetta, and prepare safety information needed for bids and client reviews.
- Coordinate safety meetings, toolbox talks, field inspections, hazard reporting, and communication with crews and supervisors.
- Manage incident reporting and investigations, required notifications, trend analysis, and corrective actions. Coordinate WCB claims and return-to-work processes when needed.
- Maintain emergency response plans and coordinate drills, including follow-up on findings.
- Maintain safety data sheets and hazardous product records,



and support the health and safety committee or representative as required.
- Develop project-specific safety plans and help coordinate dedicated site safety coverage when a project requires it.
- Build and maintain BuLa’s quality procedures, inspection forms, competency assessments, and document controls.
- Work with field supervision to ensure required mechanical inspections, measurements, and quality records are completed and included in client turnover documentation.
- Support the development of BuLa’s quality management system and its work toward ISO certification.

Qualifications

- Experience being part of a team that develops and optimises HSE programs in industrial construction, mechanical contracting, plant maintenance, or a similar environment.
- Hands-on experience with COR requirements, audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
- Experience with QA/QC processes, inspections, quality records, and writing clear procedures.
- Confidence working with tradespeople, supervisors, clients, and management.
- Strong organization and follow-through, especially when coordinating multiple workers and projects.
- Working knowledge of Alberta occupational health and safety requirements.
- A valid driver’s licence and the ability to visit active industrial sites.

NCSO or another relevant safety credential, experience with WorkHub and contractor compliance portals, ISO 9001 experience, and knowledge of millwright or rotating-equipment work are strong assets.We’re looking for someone who will take ownership of the program, stay ahead of deadlines, and help our field teams deliver safe, high-quality work.
