Children & Youth Group Home Services - Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities
About Us
At The Behaviour Company, we operate therapeutic group homes for children and youth with complex mental health needs, developmental disabilities, and behavioural challenges. Our team combines trauma-informed care, evidence-informed behavioural support, and relationship-based practice, with safety, dignity, and compassion at the centre of everything we do.
We are expanding our frontline team to include Instructor Therapists who bring experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), individualized teaching, and skill development to everyday life in our group homes.
Position Overview
As a Frontline Instructor Therapist, you will work directly with children and youth aged 6–17 in our group homes and the community, implementing individualized behavioural support and skill-development strategies under the supervision of our clinical team.
You will help youth build communication, coping, independence, and daily living skills through structured teaching and naturally occurring opportunities. Building trusting relationships, recognizing distress, respecting assent, and supporting emotional regulation are essential parts of this work.
This is a frontline residential position. Alongside implementing clinical strategies, you will participate in all aspects of daily care, including personal care, meal preparation, community activities, household routines, and crisis support.
This role is well suited to an Instructor Therapist or Behaviour Therapist who wants to apply their clinical skills in a therapeutic home environment, working alongside Developmental Support Workers and other frontline professionals.
What You’ll Do
- Implement individualized behaviour support plans and teaching programs developed by the clinical team.
- Use ABA-informed strategies to teach communication, coping, social, leisure, and daily living skills.
- Help youth practice and generalize skills across daily routines, activities, and community settings.
- Build therapeutic relationships through conversation, play, shared interests, and consistent, responsive care.
- Use trauma-informed approaches, validation,
and co-regulation to support youth during distress.
- Collect accurate behavioural and skill-development data, complete documentation, and communicate observations to the clinical team.
- Support personal care, hygiene, meals, appointments, and community participation.
- Recognize early signs of escalation and implement individualized prevention and de-escalation strategies.
- Respond to crises using approved safety procedures, with physical intervention used only when necessary for safety and in accordance with training and organizational policy.
- Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, training, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Prepare meals and contribute to cleaning, household routines, and maintaining a safe, welcoming home.
