Studio
RobitailleCurtis is a Montreal based architecture and landscape architecture studio working primarily in Quebec and Vermont. It was founded in 2013 by American architect Andrew Curtis and Canadian landscape architect Sophie Robitaille. Our cross-disciplinary practice focuses on sensorial richness through careful site analysis, thoughtful use of local materials, and a focus on craftsmanship. Extensive landscape architecture experience informs architecture that is sited opportunely and treads lightly on the earth, while our knowledge of architectural history, detailing, and authentic construction enriches our landscapes. We focus on durability in all projects, resulting in pragmatic, elegant structures and spaces that age well and remain full of character decades after their completion.
Our work is thoughtful and authentic, comprising spaces that have a strong relationship to one another. They are always derived from a profound sense of place and a deep appreciation for the built environment and sustainability. Working under one roof, our teams intermingle, share ideas, and problem-solve for one another.
This cross-pollination of disciplines results in both contextually appropriate architecture and carefully detailed landscapes that not only sit comfortably within their surroundings but positively contribute to them.
We design intuitively, with each team member working in tandem and offering each other advice from their professional experience. We listen carefully to our client’s needs and begin translating their visions into reality from the moment we first put pencil to paper—combining thousands of little decisions to create the desired feeling of delight within all spaces, both outdoors and in. Our design process involves meticulous documentation through detailed drawings so that each project may be executed as intended.
