Responsibilities

- Deliver high-quality internal medicine care to adult patients, addressing a wide range of health issues with precision and compassion.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing.
- Manage acute care situations efficiently, providing timely interventions and stabilizing critically ill patients when necessary.
- Collaborate with specialists and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Utilize electronic health record systems for accurate documentation, data collection, and medication administration records.
- Participate in research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing clinical outcomes and patient safety.
- Educate patients on disease prevention, medication management, lifestyle modifications, and follow-up care strategies.
- Assist in training medical office staff on medical terminology, clinical procedures,



and data collection protocols.
- Contribute to home care programs by coordinating patient visits and ensuring continuity of care beyond the clinical setting.

Skills

- Proven hospital experience with a robust understanding of acute care protocols and emergency response procedures.
- Hands-on experience in pain management techniques tailored to diverse patient needs.
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach that fosters trust and adherence to treatment plans.
- Proficiency in medical terminology along with familiarity with electronic health record systems.
- Experience in medical office operations including scheduling, documentation, data collection, and medication administration.
- Ability to perform home visits effectively while managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
- Strong communication skills for clear interactions with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification in Internal Medicine (or equivalent)
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
- Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
