Wilderness Vans is looking for a skilled Journeyman Electrician to join our custom vehicle production team in Lethbridge, Alberta. This role also may fit a Journeyman Mechanic with extensive electric experience.
We build and outfit high-quality adventure vans and off-grid trucks, incorporating a wide range of electrical systems and technology.
This is a hands-on, electrical-focused position for someone who enjoys precision wiring, problem-solving and working on unique projects outside of traditional residential or commercial electrical or mechanical work.
The Role
You'll be responsible primarily for the installation, wiring, testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems in our custom-built Wilderness Vans and GRID Trucks.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Install, wire and troubleshoot 12V DC and 110/120V AC electrical systems in custom Wilderness Vans and GRID Trucks.
- Install and connect AC electrical components, including shore power connections, breaker panels, outlets, inverters and associated wiring.
- Install and wire DC electrical systems, including batteries, solar panels, charge controllers, DC distribution panels, lighting, switches, relays, fans and pumps.
- Build, route, connect and install custom wiring harnesses.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and installation specifications.
- Test AC and DC electrical systems, diagnose faults and complete necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Ensure all electrical installations meet applicable safety standards and electrical code requirements.
- Coordinate electrical installations with the build team throughout the production process.
- Document completed work and communicate any issues or concerns to the production team.
This position is primarily dedicated to electrical work. While occasional assistance with related installation tasks may be required, general carpentry, plumbing, mechanical repairs and other van-building duties are not the focus of this role. Experience with RV, marine, automotive, solar or off-grid electrical systems is a definite asset, but not required.
