The Opportunity

We’re hiring a Junior Accounting Analyst to join our Finance team and you will own accounts payable and vendor relations for Penalta, and help the Controller close the books each month and at year end. You will work closely with the Controller and our Junior Financial Analyst to keep financial records accurate, support project accounting, and pull together the data the business needs to make decisions.

What You’ll Do

- Process supplier invoices and code them correctly to project budgets and cost accounts
- Process overhead expenses, including expense reports, supplier accounts, and company credit cards
- Review and reconcile vendor statements
- Help coordinate payment runs so vendors are paid on time, in line with payment terms and company policy
- Be the main contact for suppliers with payment questions, and resolve issues quickly and professionally
- Support month-end and year-end close, including account reconciliations and monthly financial reporting
- Handle full-cycle accounting for several small entities: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, sales tax, and financial reporting
- Support budgeting and forecasting for overhead accounts by comparing actuals to budget and explaining variances
- Help improve our processes, which may include a future ERP implementation

What You’ll Bring

- Hands-on experience with accounts payable and account reconciliations




- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort with other Office applications
- Comfort working in accounting software
- A sharp eye for detail, plus solid time management and organization
- Transparent, friendly communication with suppliers and coworkers
- Strong ethics and a sense of ownership over your work
- Post-secondary education in accounting, business, or finance is an asset
