Reporting to the Artistic Program Director, the Junior Art Instructor is responsible for planning and teaching weekly after-school art classes for children in grades K-2 (ages 5-7) to develop their artistic abilities in a variety of mediums in keeping with the vision, philosophy, values and mission of Amber Academy Youth Fine Arts Society.

Qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to:

- A natural artistic ability and love for working with others to create art that has a visual impact
- Self-directed with excellent communication and leadership skills
- Enjoy working with young children and able to establish rapport with youth of varying skills and abilities
- Enthusiastic about mentoring and empowering youth to become confident individuals and engaged members of the community
- Able to create and implement a program with transparent goals and lesson plans

Experience
- Must have a passion for creating art using a variety of techniques including drawing, painting, sculpting, and crafting




- Proven leadership experience with young children of varying abilities in an educational or recreational capacity (daycare, preschool, summer camp, etc.)

This is a contract, part-time term position beginning in October 2026 and terminating June 2027 with the option to renew for the 2027-2028 season. Regular classes will be on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30pm in Sooke, BC. Compensation will be paid per class session, with wage based on previous experience, education, and training.
