Licensed Architect – Part-Time / Hourly Contract

Ontario-Based | Government Projects Across Canada

Ziyutec Inc., an engineering consulting and commissioning firm, is seeking a licensed architect based in Ontario for ongoing, part-time collaboration on government building projects across Canada.

Projects include existing-building renovations, office fit-ups, building upgrades and architectural coordination with electrical and mechanical systems.

Location: Ontario; GTA or Ottawa preferred. Flexible remote work, with project meetings, site visits and travel within Canada as required. Projects are not limited to Ontario.

Hourly Rate: CAD $80–$140, depending on qualifications, relevant experience and scope of responsibility. Travel time compensation and reimbursement of approved travel expenses will be agreed upon before each trip.

Responsibilities

- Review project requirements, existing drawings and site conditions.
- Prepare architectural designs, drawings, details and specifications.
- Review applicable building code, accessibility and life-safety requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering disciplines, clients and contractors.
- Participate in virtual and in-person project meetings.
- Attend site visits, including assignments outside Ontario.
- Support project submissions, tender questions and construction-stage activities.
- Provide qualified architectural review and sealed documents where required, subject to applicable jurisdictional licensing and practice requirements.
- Provide task-based hour estimates and maintain accurate time records.

Required Qualifications

- A licensed architect based in Ontario; please specify your registration jurisdiction(s).
- Demonstrated government building project experience.




- Ability and willingness to undergo security screening and obtain and maintain the security status or clearance required for assigned government projects.
- Experience with commercial or institutional building renovations.
- Strong English communication and technical documentation skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Ability to attend scheduled project meetings and willingness to travel within Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

- Federal government project experience.
- Existing federal Reliability Status or security clearance.
- Experience working in occupied and secure government facilities.
- Architectural registration in more than one Canadian province or territory.

Working Arrangement This is an ongoing, part time opportunity with hours varying by project workload. Tasks, deliverables and hour budgets will be agreed upon before work begins.

Meetings, site visits and travel will be arranged in advance and coordinated with the architect’s availability. Architects with full-time employment or other active projects are welcome to apply, provided they can commit to agreed schedules and deliverables and comply with any existing employment or contractual obligations.

Independent practitioners and small architectural practices are also welcome.
