POSITION TITLE: Litigation Lawyer (Commercial and Estate Litigation)

The Role

We are seeking a lawyer with seven (7) plus years of litigation experience to join our growing Ottawa team, who is comfortable assisting clients in both commercial and estate litigation domains.

The ideal candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and extensive experience and comfort with organizing their time and the file.

Requirements

Knowledge & Skills

- You are comfortable “on your feet” in the courtroom
- Experience with examinations for discovery, mediation, arbitration, trial, appeals, and settlement procedures and processes
- You deliver high-quality work




- You have strong drafting and analytical skills and can assess complex issues, while providing a unique perspective
- You can manage processes from the beginning to the end
- You have excellent oral and written communication skills
- You are creative and provide effective legal advice on matters with significant complexity and risk exposure
- You provide legal opinions, arguments and information in a clear and concise manner
- You have excellent time management and organizational skills
- You have effective client and practice management skills
- You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
- You value client service and professionalism
- You demonstrate initiative.

Minimum Qualifications

- You are a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario; and
- Seven (7) plus years of litigation experience.

Assets

- A background and/or experience in construction litigation would be an asset; and
- An existing book of business would be an asset.

Salary & Benefits: Compensation for this position starts at $135,000.00 per year, with final salary determined based on experience and qualifications. A competitive perks package is also offered.
