Bruce Middle School is seeking mature, reliable, punctual, and physically active individuals to join our team as Lunch Supervisors.

This position is ideal for individuals who live in the immediate neighbourhood, enjoy working with middle-years students, and can make a consistent daily commitment to supporting a safe, respectful, and positive school environment.

This is an ACTIVE supervision position, not a stationary role. Successful candidates must be comfortable walking, circulating, and continuously monitoring students in both indoor and outdoor environments, including the school field, hardtop areas, and designated indoor spaces.

Applicants MUST reside within 2 kilometres of Bruce Middle School. This is a mandatory requirement intended to support reliable and consistent attendance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Actively supervise students during the lunch period in designated indoor and outdoor areas, including classrooms, the school field, and hardtop areas.
- Remain mobile throughout supervision duties, walking and circulating to effectively monitor student activities and respond promptly when needed.
- Provide outdoor supervision throughout the school year, including during Winnipeg winters, unless weather conditions are deemed unsafe by school administration.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all students.
- Monitor student behaviour, address concerns as they arise, and encourage appropriate conduct.
- Take attendance and follow established student supervision and safety procedures.
- Refer significant or unresolved concerns to the Vice Principal or Principal.
- Ensure lunch areas are left clean and orderly.
- Follow school procedures and administrative direction.
- Perform other related supervision duties as assigned.

One hour per school day when the lunch program is operating.

Consistent daily attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position.

Rate of Pay

$17.21 per hour plus 4% vacation pay.

Applicants MUST

- Reside within 2 kilometres of Bruce Middle School, 333 Booth Drive, Winnipeg.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be mature, responsible, dependable, and consistently punctual.
- Be capable of providing active supervision, including walking, standing, and moving regularly throughout designated supervision areas, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
- Be comfortable supervising students outdoors in all seasons, including during Winnipeg winters.
- Be available Monday through Friday for the entire scheduled lunch supervision period.
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with middle-years students.
- Be able to follow school procedures and oral and written instructions.
- Provide satisfactory Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry checks, as required by the Division.

Previous experience working with children or in a supervisory role is considered an asset. CPR and First Aid certification are also assets.
