Ontario Public Service Leadership | Leadership dans la fonction publique de l’Ontario
Penetanguishene
Are you a people-focused leader who thrives on solving complex problems, interpreting legislation, and ensuring critical decisions are made accurately and on time? Do you have a passion for operational excellence, records management, and leading high-performing teams? If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail, sound judgment, and collaboration make a real difference, we want to hear from you.
As the Manager, Inmate Records at Central North Correctional Centre, you will lead a specialized team responsible for inmate records administration, sentence calculations, court documentation, admissions, transfers, and releases.
You will oversee processes that ensure lawful custody, timely releases, compliance with legislation, and the integrity of institutional operations. Working closely with correctional leaders, courts, police services, legal representatives, and other justice-sector partners, you will provide expert advice, resolve complex cases, drive continuous improvement, and foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, and service excellence.
This is an opportunity to lead meaningful work that directly supports public safety, strengthens confidence in Ontario's correctional system, and helps shape the future of one of the province's largest and most dynamic correctional institutions. Join us and make an impact where precision, leadership, and purpose come together.
Leadership That Makes a Difference
At its core, leadership in the Ontario Public Service (OPS) is about creating positive change for people and communities across Ontario. We're looking for leaders who are authentic, accountable, and courageous. People who bring others together, ask bold questions, and lead with purpose.
About the job
We believe great leadership starts with high standards and strong support. In the OPS, that means showing up with authenticity, acting with integrity, and having the courage to do what's right.
As a leader, you'll shape a team culture that sparks innovation, supports collaboration, and champions inclusion. You'll help build a workplace that is diverse, anti-racist, and accessible, where everyone feels safe, respected, and able to thrive.
You won't be doing it alone. We invest in our leaders through mentorship, learning opportunities, and cross-ministry networks that help you grow your impact and connect with peers across the organization.
Leadership is about impact, and in this role, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful one. You will:
- Lead and oversee inmate records operations by managing the administration of inmate records, sentence calculations,
court documentation, admissions, transfers, releases, and related records processes to ensure accuracy, security, and compliance.
- Provide leadership and direction to staff by setting expectations, assigning work, coordinating schedules, coaching employees, supporting professional development, and fostering a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing team environment.
- Ensure legislative and policy compliance through the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, regulations, court orders, ministry directives, and institutional policies related to inmate records and sentence administration.
- Manage complex records and custody matters by providing expert guidance on sentencing calculations, legal documents, disclosure requests, inmate movement, and other operational issues that impact lawful custody and release decisions.
- Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships by collaborating with institutional management, courts, police services, legal counsel, justice-sector partners, and other stakeholders to support effective information sharing and coordinated operations.
- Drive operational excellence and risk management by monitoring records processes, identifying areas for improvement, implementing best practices, analyzing trends and reports, and taking proactive steps to mitigate operational, legal, and public safety risks.
Your ability to align your team's efforts with broader organizational goals will be key to your success, and to the success of the people we serve.
