Techsat is a Dawson Creek–based IT consulting and managed services provider that has supported small and medium-sized businesses across the Peace Region for the last decade. We handle network support, cybersecurity and day-to-day technology for local organizations, and we're a small, close-knit team where your work makes a visible difference to clients you'll get to know by name.

The role

As our Network Field Specialist, you'll be the hands-on technician on client sites: installing, configuring and troubleshooting the networks that keep local businesses running. You'll work across offices, retail locations, clinics and industrial sites in Dawson Creek and the surrounding Peace Region, and you'll be the friendly, reliable face of Techsat for our clients.

What you'll do

- Install, configure and maintain switches, routers, firewalls and wireless access points at client sites
- Run, terminate, test and label structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6, fibre patching) and organize network racks
- Diagnose and resolve network, connectivity and hardware issues in office and remotely
- Deploy and set up workstations, printers, VoIP phones, NVR/camera systems and other endpoints
- Configure VLANs, VPNs, DHCP/DNS and basic firewall rules under the direction of senior staff
- Perform scheduled maintenance, firmware updates and site audits for managed-services clients
- Document every job: network diagrams, device inventories, passwords in our vault and tickets in our PSA
- Escalate security concerns and support our cybersecurity team on remediation work
- Participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule

What you bring

Required





- 2+ years of hands-on experience in network support, field IT or a similar technical role
- Diploma in computer systems/network technology, or equivalent work experience
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, DHCP/DNS and Wi-Fi
- Experience terminating and testing copper cabling
- Valid Class 5 BC driver's licence, a clean driving abstract, and the ability to travel throughout the Peace Region in all seasons
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, work on ladders and in ceilings, crawl spaces and server closets
- Ability to pass a criminal record check
- Clear communication with non-technical clients

Nice to have

- CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or vendor certifications (Fortinet, Ubiquiti, Meraki, Mikrotik)
- Experience with Windows Server, Microsoft 365 and Active Directory / Entra ID
- Fibre termination or splicing experience
- Experience working at an MSP using a PSA/RMM platform
- Familiarity with camera/NVR and VoIP systems

Compensation and benefits
- Salary: $62,000–$75,000 per year, based on experience and certifications
- Company vehicle or mileage allowance for client travel
- Company-provided laptop, phone and tools
- On-call premium for after-hours coverage
