## ONE-DAY PROMOTIONAL REPRESENTATIVE
Location: Toronto, ON — city-wide via public transit
Duration: 1 day — 5-hour paid shift + 30 minute paid break
Compensation: $69.67/hour — 5-hour shift + 30-minute paid break (5½ paid hours total: $383.19). All payments will be made via e-transfer.
Transportation: TTC/public-transit expenses will be covered via e-transfer
## JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking two extroverted people who are allergic to embarrassment for a one-day promotional campaign in Toronto.
During the campaign, representatives will travel throughout the city by public transit, wearing visibly noticeable promotional apparel and distributing food gift cards to members of the public. The goal is to draw attention to food insecurity while promoting an apparel brand whose purpose involves supporting organizations fight hunger. Representatives should be comfortable with the fact that the campaign may attract attention, questions, curiosity, or disagreement from members of the public.
Because we want applicants to make an informed decision about whether this role is right for them. Shortlisted applicants will be shown the exact apparel design before being asked to accept the assignment. You will have an opportunity to review the design and ask questions before committing to the job. Applicants have no obligation to accept the position after viewing the apparel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Travel throughout Toronto using the TTC as directed.
- Wear the campaign apparel during the paid shift.
- Distribute food gift cards respectfully to members of the public.
- Approach potential recipients in a respectful manner without making assumptions about their income, housing situation, appearance, disability, or personal circumstances.
- Enjoy a half an hour paid break.
- Maintain a calm, qualified, and strictly non-confrontational demeanor in public.
- Walk away from interactions that become uncomfortable, or feel unsafe.
- Check in with the campaign manager at designated intervals.
- Follow reasonable instructions regarding campaign locations, routes, and distribution procedures.
- Report any safety concern or unusual incident to the campaign manager.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Must be comfortable independently navigating Toronto via the TTC.
- Strong situational awareness.
- Reliable time management.
- Comfortable walking and travelling throughout the city during a 5-hour shift.
- Comfortable interacting with members of the public—or respectfully choosing not to engage when circumstances call for it.
- Comfortable wearing highly visible promotional apparel after reviewing the exact design.
- Able to follow instructions and communicate with the campaign manager at designated times.
- Previous experience working at events, venues, amusement parks, promotional campaigns, customer service, or other public-facing roles is an asset
HOW WE APPROACH GIFT-CARD DISTRIBUTION
We will provide clear guidelines for identifying appropriate opportunities to offer a gift card while minimizing assumptions. The goal is to offer assistance respectfully—not to label, interrogate, or publicly identify anyone as being food insecure. A person may simply decline. No explanation is required.

You may spend several hours travelling around Toronto while wearing something that attracts attention. People may stare, ask questions, compliment you, criticize the promotion, or simply ignore you.
