Techsat is a Dawson Creek–based IT consulting and managed services provider that has supported small and medium-sized businesses across the Peace Region the last decade. Cybersecurity is a core part of what we do, and we're growing our offensive security practice so local organizations get the same calibre of testing that big-city firms do.

The role

As our Penetration Tester / Security Consultant, you'll lead authorized security assessments for our clients and turn the findings into clear, prioritized advice. You'll split your time between hands-on testing (networks, web apps, cloud, wireless and social engineering) and consulting: helping business owners understand their risk, meet compliance and insurance requirements, and fix what matters most. You'll also help shape Techsat's security service offerings as we grow.

What you'll do

- Scope, plan and run authorized external and internal network penetration tests
- Test web applications and APIs against the OWASP Top 10 and similar frameworks
- Assess Microsoft 365 / Entra ID, Azure and other cloud environments for misconfigurations
- Conduct wireless assessments and, where contracted, phishing and physical/social-engineering engagements
- Run vulnerability assessments and validate findings to eliminate false positives
- Write clear technical reports and executive summaries with risk ratings and remediation steps
- Present findings to client owners and managers in plain language
- Advise clients on security policy, cyber-insurance questionnaires and frameworks such as CIS Controls and NIST CSF
- Work with our network and support team to verify remediation and retest
- Maintain rules of engagement,



scoping documents and client authorizations for every test
- Help build Techsat's internal testing methodology, toolkit and lab

What you bring

Required

- 3+ years in cybersecurity, with at least 2 years performing hands-on penetration testing or red-team work
- Proficiency with tools such as Burp Suite, Nmap, Metasploit, BloodHound, Nessus/OpenVAS and Kali Linux
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory attack paths, Windows and Linux internals, and common network protocols
- Scripting ability in Python, PowerShell or Bash
- Excellent report writing and the ability to explain technical risk to non-technical people
- Strong ethics, discretion and respect for scope and client confidentiality
- Ability to pass an enhanced criminal record check

Nice to have

- OSCP, OSEP, PNPT, GPEN, CRTO or similar offensive certifications
- CISSP, CISM or Security+ for the consulting side
- Cloud security experience (Azure, Microsoft 365, AWS)
- MSP or consulting background serving small and medium-sized businesses
- Familiarity with PIPEDA and BC privacy requirements
- Valid driver's licence for occasional on-site work in the Peace Region

Pay: $60,000.00-$79,000.00 per year
