Developmental Support Worker / Personal Support Worker / Certified Nursing Assistant / Health Care Aide - Yonge and Eglinton, Toronto - CAD$108.00/week
Description
About the Client
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a client living independently in uptown Toronto near Yonge and Eglinton. This individual values their independence and personal space while recognizing the need for supportive care. They experience mobility challenges that affect walking and standing, and require assistance with transfers.
The client has recently experienced concerning muscle spasms that have prompted the need for additional support at home. They live alone in a small bachelor apartment without nearby family, making reliable care essential for their safety and wellbeing.
Responsibilities
The caregiver will provide light housekeeping support including cleaning the bathroom, taking out recycling, and doing laundry approximately once per week. Meal preparation assistance is needed, primarily for lunch preparation once weekly. The client also requires support with personal care tasks including bathing assistance.
Given the client's mobility limitations, the caregiver should be prepared to provide transfer assistance and support while walking. The client has minimal care needs and prefers efficiency during visits - tasks can typically be completed within the scheduled timeframe without extended presence.
What We're Looking For
We need a caregiver who makes the client feel comfortable and respects their need for independence and personal space. The ideal candidate is calm, patient, and brings positive energy while maintaining clear communication. Reliability and consistency are essential, as is the ability to take initiative when needed.
Experience with mobility assistance, transfers, and personal care is required.
The caregiver should have the right skills and experience to support someone with physical health challenges and mobility limitations. English language proficiency is necessary for effective communication.
Schedule
This is a flexible part time position requiring two visits per week, with each visit lasting approximately two hours (4 hours total weekly). The client is open to various day and time combinations, with preference for the caregiver's availability to ensure consistency. Potential schedules could include Monday/Wednesday, Wednesday/Friday, or other twice-weekly arrangements.
Morning to early afternoon timeframes (between 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM) are preferred but negotiable. This is a three-month commitment starting after the holiday period in mid-October 2026.
