Job Overview:
As the PLM Data Migration Specialist, the successful candidate will execute all data migration activities required to transition from PLM2020 to PLM360. The candidate will work closely with business units, the Migration Lead, the Global PLM Data Migration Team, and the external Data Migration Partner to ensure that all product and configuration data is transferred accurately, consistently, and in a quality-assured manner. The candidate will execute on the migration strategy, confirm mapping logic, validate data integrity, and ensure business readiness for go-live.
Responsibilities:
- Execute BU-level PLM data migration activities for the PLM2020 to PLM360 transition, ensuring alignment with defined global processes, scope, and timelines.
- Work closely with the Global Data Migration Team and external data migration partners to ensure correct execution of migration scope, mapping definitions, migration rules, and quality gates.
- Own hands-on data scope execution, including mapping application, transformation logic, and validation, ensuring migrated data is at least as helpful and accessible as in PLM2020 (and preferably improved).
- Define, apply, and validate attribute mapping between PLM2020 and PLM360 data structures, including items, BOMs, metadata, classifications, and engineering artifacts.
- Identify, profile, and assess legacy data quality issues, including inconsistencies resulting from previous migrations, and support remediation activities.
- Execute and coordinate ETL activities (extraction, cleansing, transformation, and load) across internal SMEs, external partners, and global PLM teams.
- Assess and support migration of non-PLM product data sources (spreadsheets,
legacy systems, local tools), ensuring required content is aligned and loaded into PLM360.
- Support business readiness for migration cycles, including test loads, validation rounds, defect resolution, and final cutover.
- Apply defined quality gates and acceptance criteria in line with global PLM rollout governance frameworks.
- Support change enablement by helping business teams understand new PLM360 data structures, attributes, and data usage practices.
- Collaborate with functional SMEs (Engineering, CAD/PD, Parts & BOMs, Service, CAE, Manufacturing, etc.) to execute data ownership decisions and approvals.
- Report execution status, risks, and issues to BU leadership, PLM project leadership, and global migration governance.
Key Responsibilities:
Scope, Mapping & Data Ownership
- Execute the creation, maintenance, and application of detailed data mapping specifications, attribute lists, and transformation rules.
- Validate mapping execution with external partners, Global Data Migration, and business SMEs.
- Ensure mapping decisions align with future-state PLM360 processes and data model evolution.
- Execute and support the extraction of PLM2020 data (items, BOMs, metadata, documents).
- Perform and support data cleansing and correction aligned with current and future business processes.
- Review external transformation results and provide execution-level validation and sign-off for each migration cycle.
- Participate in and support test and production data loads into PLM360 environments.
- Execute detailed data validation rounds, reconcile discrepancies, and drive resolution of data defects.
- Confirm that migrated data supports intended business processes and is production-ready.
- Validate data completeness, ensuring all required source data is migrated and no data remains that would prevent retirement of the legacy system.
- Maintain migration execution documentation, including mapping specifications, data rules, validation evidence, defect logs, risks, and issue lists.
- Support global rollout governance through checklist completion, execution evidence, and milestone quality gates.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in Teamcenter / Active Workspace data structures, item management, revisions, BOMs, eCube, SQL, and metadata rules.
- Strong background in data analysis, data quality assessment, and handling complex engineering datasets.
- Prior experience leading or executing PLM data migrations (preferably multi-system enterprise migrations).
- Hands-on experience with mapping design, ETL workflows, and data validation frameworks.
- Understanding of core engineering product data (Items, BOMs, Specifications, CAD/PD data, Service BOM variants, etc.).
- Experience working with large OEM or complex engineered products, enabling sound judgment around product structure and configuration.
- Familiarity with SAP integration contexts, part master data flows, and downstream ERP touchpoints.
- 10-12 years of experience required.
