Sarnia
QA/QC Manager
Location: Sarnia, Ontario
Position: Full time, permanent, on site
Salary: $64,000 to $90,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience
There is an enormous amount happening at ProMart right now, and quality is at the centre of all of it.
We are investing nearly $2 million into the modernization of our Sarnia facility, including robotic welding, advanced laser cutting and profile processing, automated material handling, new CNC technology, and major facility improvements.
Our CSA N299.3 nuclear quality program has been audited and pressure tested by leading Canadian nuclear contractors. We recently completed a major client qualification audit with zero findings, but our team understands that strong quality means continuing to learn, improve, and raise the standard.
Now we are preparing for the next step.
We are building our roadmap toward CSA N285 and ASME NQA-1 while continuing to strengthen our ISO, CWB, AISC, and SSPC programs. We are pursuing major opportunities across nuclear, data centres, defence, mining, energy, institutions, and Canadian infrastructure.
We need a QA/QC Manager who is excited by that challenge and wants to help us build something exceptional.
About ProMart
ProMart Industrial is a third generation, family built fabrication and industrial contracting company that has been operating in Sarnia since 1985.
Our operations include an 80,000 square foot fabrication facility, a separate 25,000 square foot climate controlled coating facility, and an 11 acre laydown and modular assembly yard.
We provide in house 3D detailing, automated steel processing, structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication, custom industrial fabrication, industrial coatings, modular assembly, field installation, millwrighting, and construction services.
With work extending into 2028 and significant new opportunities ahead, ProMart is investing heavily in its people, technology, facilities, and quality systems.
The Role The QA/QC Manager will lead the daily performance and continued development of ProMart’s quality assurance and quality control programs.
This is not a position for someone who wants to manage quality from behind a desk.
We need someone who can sit across the table from a nuclear client or auditor with confidence, support our project teams through complex requirements, mentor our inspectors, and walk onto the shop floor to work directly with supervisors, fitters, welders, painters, and production personnel.
The right person will understand that quality cannot be inspected into a project at the end. It has to be built into the work from contract review and procurement through fabrication, inspection, documentation, and final turnover.
This person will have a real voice in how ProMart grows and will play a major role in preparing the company for increasingly complex and highly regulated work.
Responsibilities
- Lead the daily operations of ProMart’s quality assurance and quality control department
- Manage, mentor, and develop quality inspectors while building accountability and consistency across the team
- Maintain and continually improve ProMart’s CSA N299.3 nuclear quality assurance program

- Participate in estimating reviews, contract reviews, project kickoff meetings, and production planning
- Review drawings, specifications, contracts, quality clauses, welding requirements, inspection requirements, and client expectations before work begins

- Oversee receiving, dimensional, welding, coating, final, and release inspections
- Ensure material certification, identification, traceability, preservation, and control requirements are maintained throughout each project
- Maintain oversight of welding procedures, procedure qualifications, welder qualifications, welding consumables, weld maps, and required records

- Ensure inspection and testing activities are completed by qualified personnel using approved procedures and calibrated equipment

- Lead internal audits and support client, supplier, certification, and nuclear qualification audits
- Prepare audit responses, corrective action plans, and supporting evidence
- Lead supplier qualification, surveillance, performance monitoring, and quality development activities
- Ensure purchased materials, subcontracted work, and external services meet all project and quality requirements
- Maintain effective document control, revision control, quality records, project data books, and final turnover packages
- Ensure nuclear records are complete, accurate, legible, traceable, and properly retained
- Monitor quality performance, identify trends, and provide clear reporting to senior leadership
- Support management reviews and lead continual improvement initiatives based on audits, project results, shop feedback, and lessons learned
- Work closely with project management, estimating, procurement, detailing, fabrication, coatings, shipping, and field operations
- Build a culture where employees understand the requirements, take ownership of their work, and are comfortable raising concerns
