Anova: A Future without Violence is a leading edge not-for-profit organization operating within a feminist model in London, Ontario. Anova is dedicated to meeting the needs of abused women and children by offering shelter, second stage housing, 24/7 crisis and support line, education programs and preventative activities. The Custodian role is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, well-functioning, and welcoming shelter and housing environments through scheduled custodial services, preventative maintenance, inspections, minor repairs, and coordination of service needs. The role also supports resident and tenant needs by ensuring residential areas are appropriately stocked, responding to maintenance concerns and emergencies as required, maintaining accurate records and inventories, and contributing to the overall health, safety, and respectful operation of the sites.

This position is Relief (Casual) and does not have guaranteed hours per week and is scheduled to meet the needs of the shelters covering vacation, wellness time, and holiday time off. Shifts are scheduled within a 24/7 environment and can be up to 12 hours in length.

The successful candidate will have:

- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of one year of experience in custodial, maintenance, or a related facilities environment.
- A explicit Vulnerable Sector background check




- A valid Class G driver’s licence and the ability to travel between sites as required.
- Scheduling flexibility; ability to accept at minimum two shifts per month, including availability for varioius shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work respectfully and effectively with residents, tenants, staff, contractors, and service providers.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize competing custodial, maintenance, and emergency needs.

Preferred qualifications include:
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
- WSIB Health and Safety certification/training.
- Additional training or experience in building maintenance, preventative maintenance, custodial services, or facilities operations.
- Experience working in a shelter, supportive housing, residential, or community-service environment
