Job Overview The Piping Kettle on the corner of Huron and Highbury is looking to hire for a customer service position. This position requires you to work in a very fast paced busy restaurant environment where you are on your feet all of your shift. In this lively role, you'll be the friendly face and helpful voice that creates a welcoming atmosphere for our guests.

Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will ensure every customer enjoys a memorable dining experience. From taking orders to food handling, your energetic approach will keep the service flowing smoothly and efficiently. Duties of the job include greeting and serving customers in a quick and friendly manner, operating a POS system and handling cash, following a daily checklist of cleaning, organizing, stocking, and prepping, closing down the store, and completing any additional tasks as required.

We are also partnered with online delivery companies, so being comfortable with tablets and applications is an asset. Good candidates will show up to work with a great attitude, will posses the ability to take initiative on tasks, understand food safety, have excellent food presentation, be very reliable, and enjoy to work in a customer service role. The shifts will include evenings and weekends, please do not apply if you do not want to work those shifts.

Duties

- Greet guests warmly and provide exceptional customer service throughout their visit
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS systems, including Micros POS if available




- Assist in food preparation and food handling to ensure quality and safety standards are met
- Operate cash registers, handle cash transactions, and process payments accurately
- Upsell menu items to enhance guest experience and increase sales opportunities
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, including kitchen stations and dining spaces
- Follow food safety protocols and proper sanitation procedures at all times
- Manage time effectively during busy hours to serve guests promptly and efficiently

Qualifications

- Previous food service or restaurant experience preferred but not required; enthusiasm is key!
- Familiarity with POS systems, especially Micros POS, is a plus
- Strong customer service skills with a positive, energetic attitude
- Ability to handle cash accurately and perform basic math calculations quickly
- Knowledge of food handling, safety standards, and sanitation practices in the food industry
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during peak hours
- Experience with cashiering, serving, or upselling menu items is advantageous
- Willingness to learn new skills related to food preparation and restaurant operations
