Archetype Global 3D

Saskatoon

Archetype Global 3D is an innovative research and development startup focused on next-generation concrete 3D printing technology. Still in the early stages of startup development, we are working to revolutionize the concrete 3D printing platform through a new approach to robotics. Our focus is on improving reliability, performance, and usability while transforming ambitious engineering concepts into a working construction-scale system.

We are seeking a Robotics Engineer to work closely with our lead engineer on the software, motion control, and sensor integration that power our robotic concrete 3D printing system. The role combines practical programming with machine-level testing and refinement, including improving the operator experience as the prototype evolves toward consumer-ready use.

We do not expect applicants to arrive with specialized experience in concrete 3D printing or the niche technologies behind our platform. We expect to teach and support candidates as they learn. What matters is a driven, resourceful individual who is eager to contribute, work closely with a small team, take ownership of challenging problems, and expand their professional capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

· Perform cross-disciplinary engineering work spanning software development, robotics programming, motion control, and sensor integration.

· Optimize the existing human–machine interface (HMI) and streamline workflows to make machine operation more intuitive for future customers.

· Assist the lead engineer in understanding, debugging, testing, maintaining, and optimizing the existing codebase.

· Support system testing and validation, including printer trial runs, troubleshooting, and iterative code improvements.

· Ensure reliable communication and coordination among sensors, motors, controllers, and software systems.

· Develop and refine 3D trajectory and motion paths for the robotic printing system.

· Document software changes, test results, and system behavior to support ongoing development.

· Participate in outdoor construction-site operations to execute concrete 3D prints during the spring and summer months.

Qualifications & Skills

· Experience reviewing, understanding, and refining an existing codebase, including the ability to get up to speed with software written by others.

· Hands-on experience with motors, sensors, and controllers with multi-axis control systems.

· Programming skills in one or more of C, C++, C#, Python, or MATLAB.

· Programming experience with control platforms such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, industrial motion controllers, or PLCs.

· Strong analytical problem-solving and debugging abilities.

· Ability to collaborate in a small engineering team, take initiative, and learn new technologies.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Mechatronics, or Engineering Physics.

· At least 1 year of relevant experience.

Why Join Us?

Based in the heart of Saskatoon, this is an opportunity to develop an emerging robotics platform that aims to revolutionize concrete 3D printing. You will work closely with our lead engineer,

gaining direct mentorship, hands-on experience, and the chance to influence key technical decisions as the technology develops. As an early-stage startup, we offer the opportunity to build new skills, broaden your engineering expertise, and grow professionally alongside the company.

Our long-term hiring vision is to develop today’s engineers into tomorrow’s senior technical leaders. As we expand our team and establish dedicated departments, we aim to provide a pathway toward senior-level responsibility and leadership within robotics, controls, and software development. Advancement will be based on demonstrated capability, initiative, contributions, and company growth rather than a guaranteed timeline.

If you are motivated by challenging engineering problems, practical experimentation, and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to an evolving prototype, we encourage you to apply.
