About This Opportunity

The Rotman School of Management is recruiting up to two tenure-stream Assistant Professors in Strategic Management to build independent research programs, publish in leading strategy or cognate journals, and contribute to teaching and graduate supervision. Applications close on 19 October 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.

This search covers up to two full-time tenure-stream appointments in the Strategic Management Area at the Rotman School of Management. Candidates are expected to pursue independent research at a high international level and produce scholarship in strategic management or closely related disciplines such as economics or sociology. The application is evaluated through the job-market paper, additional research papers or publications, a research statement, teaching dossier and referee evidence, reflecting a role in which both research trajectory and classroom performance are central. The successful faculty member will publish in internationally recognized journals, contribute to graduate supervision, and carry teaching and service responsibilities. Rotman's Strategic Management Area has close academic links with the University of Toronto's Economics and Sociology departments,



and its doctoral students take graduate coursework in at least one of those fields. The call is therefore broader than a single research project: it is an umbrella faculty recruitment for scholars capable of developing distinctive, theory-informed strategy research programs.

Education

PhD in management or a cognate discipline with a focus on strategic management, such as economics or sociology, by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter.

Experience

Demonstrated excellence in strategic-management research and teaching is required. Evidence includes strong research papers or publications, conference presentations, awards, teaching accomplishments, communication and presentation ability, and readiness for graduate supervision.
