Located in downtown Toronto, our new 223-room hotel will feature multiple restaurants, a spa, and approximately 12,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space. We are seeking an experienced, highly organized and guest-focused Sales Manager to join our pre-opening sales team. This is an exciting opportunity to build the sales team from the ground up, develop the sales culture and establish the service culture required for a successful hotel opening.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Sales and Marketing, the BT Sales Manager is responsible for developing and managing the hotel’s business transient and negotiated corporate business. During the pre-opening phase, the BT Sales Manager will build the account plan, identify target opportunities, establish the sales pipeline, participate in account presentations and prepare the hotel for a successful launch. Following opening, the manager will be accountable for driving qualified room revenue, retaining key accounts, monitoring performance and delivering exceptional service to clients and guests.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and execute a business transient sales plan that grows negotiated corporate, consortia, government and local business demand.
· Prospect, qualify and secure new corporate accounts through targeted calls, client meetings, site inspections, networking and industry events.
· Manage a portfolio of key accounts, maintaining regular contact, conducting business reviews and identifying new revenue opportunities.
· Lead the hotel’s participation in the annual RFP process, including account strategy,
rate recommendations, submissions, follow-up and contract administration.
· Partner with Revenue Management to develop account pricing, evaluate production, manage displacement considerations and maximize total hotel revenue.
· Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, rate agreements and account-specific collateral that reflect the Le Méridien brand and hotel positioning.
· Coordinate client site inspections, familiarization visits and pre-opening presentations, ensuring a polished and engaging experience.
· Maintain accurate account information, sales activities, forecasts and production reports in the hotel’s sales and customer-relationship systems.
· Analyze market trends, competitive activity, account production and pace data to identify opportunities and recommend action.
· Collaborate with Group Sales, Events, Reservations, Front Office and Food and Beverage to ensure seamless support for corporate clients and their travellers.
· Represent the hotel at industry functions, association meetings and client events, and build a strong qualified network in the Toronto market.
· Participate in pre-opening readiness activities, sales meetings, budgeting, forecasting and opening-day preparation as required.
Qualifications and Experience
· Minimum of three to five years of progressive business transient or corporate sales experience in a full-service, upper-upscale or luxury hotel environment.
· Proven record of generating negotiated corporate business and managing a portfolio of accounts in a competitive urban market.
· A diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Sales or a related field is considered an asset.
· Pre-opening or hotel-opening experience is considered an asset.
· Experience with Marriott or another major international hotel brand is preferred.
· Strong understanding of corporate RFP processes, account contracting, negotiated rates and revenue-management principles.
· Experience with hotel sales systems and customer-relationship platforms; familiarity with Marriott sales tools is an asset.
· Excellent prospecting, presentation, negotiation, relationship-building and communication skills.
