We are seeking a motivated and dependable Salt Truck Operator to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating salt truck to ensure safe and effective road maintenance during winter conditions or other designated times. This job carries significant responsibility. The successful applicant must be alert, use sound judgment, and respond promptly to changing conditions throughout the night.
Responsibilities
- Operate salt truck and heavy equipment with precision, ensuring proper application of salt or de-icing materials on designated parking lots and surfaces
- Must live in the Moncton area.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment before and after shifts and notifying maintenance teams of issues
- Use a tractor to load salt into the truck.
- Maintain accurate logs of materials used, routes taken, and operational hours for reporting purposes
- Follow safety protocols diligently, including proper use of personal protective equipment
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks
Skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for operating large trucks safely
- Must be able to safely operate a tractor to load salt (training will be provided)
- Ability to work outdoors for small periods of time in varying weather conditions with physical stamina and alertness
- Strong attention to detail for equipment inspection, safety compliance, and record keeping
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting incidents or concerns
- Must be dependable, attentive, and able to work independently.
- Must take safety and the responsibility of maintaining commercial properties seriously.
