About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant to join our Brampton team.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of Canadian accounting and taxation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple client files independently while meeting deadlines.

Hands-on experience preparing and filing T1, T2, T4, and T5 returns and slips is required.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain accurate and complete accounting records for multiple clients.
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and accounting reports.
- Prepare personal T1 and corporate T2 tax returns, along with T4, T4A, and T5 information returns and slips.
- Prepare and review GST/HST returns and other applicable sales tax filings.
- Process payroll and manage payroll remittances and year-end reporting.
- Prepare working papers and supporting schedules for year-end engagements and tax filings.
- Review accounting records, investigate discrepancies, and make necessary corrections.
- Prepare adjusting journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and other year-end adjustments.
- Communicate with clients to obtain records, clarify information,



and address accounting and tax inquiries.
- Assist with CRA correspondence, notices, and client inquiries.
- Maintain organized electronic and paper working files.
- Prioritize multiple client assignments to meet reporting and filing deadlines.
- Provide guidance and support to junior bookkeeping and accounting staff.
- Assist with other accounting and administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

- At least 3 years of Canadian accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in a public accounting firm.
- Solid knowledge of Canadian accounting and taxation principles.
- Required hands-on experience with T1, T2, T4, and T5 preparation and filing.
- Experience with GST/HST returns, payroll processing, payroll remittances, and T4A reporting.
- Strong understanding of full-cycle bookkeeping, year-end accounting, and financial statement preparation.
- Experience using QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client files.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a busy public accounting environment.
