Boutique Family Law Practice looking for our next great Family Lawyer and Team Member

Who We Are

Anthony Family Law (AFL) is a boutique family law firm based in Vaughan, Ontario, with a satellite office in Windsor. We handle the full spectrum of family law matters — parenting disputes, financial disclosure, property division, support, and everything in between. Our clients come to us because they need knowledgeable, responsive lawyers with experience in dealing with their most important family matters.

We are a small, purposeful team and our practice has grown steadily on the strength of our work and client relationships. We have more work than our current team can carry. So here we are.

The Opportunity

- We are looking for a lawyer who can take ownership of their work and move files forward with confidence.
- This is a file-carrying role. You will manage your own matters from the outset, with genuine mentorship available from both partners.
- You have 3–5+ years of post-call experience in family law, with courtroom experience. You are comfortable managing an array of matters independently, from initial client contact through to resolution.
- You regularly use AI and modern legal technology, such as Westlaw AI and similar platforms. Not only do you regularly use them, you are excited about the potential these tools have to benefit your clients and the future of your practice.
- We are looking for someone innovative who has initiative. You think beyond simply completing tasks. You are interested in how legal work can be done better — more efficiently, more thoughtfully, and with better outcomes for clients.
- You don’t need constant oversight,

but you also exercise good judgment about when to collaborate. You are comfortable picking up the phone, talking through an issue, and keeping momentum on your files.
- You communicate clearly and professionally with clients and opposing counsel. You are responsive, organized, and focused on achieving strong outcomes for clients. You take pride in helping clients through their matters with care and professionalism.
- We are also interested in lawyers who bring experience outside of core family law — such as wills and estates, real estate, or adoption and guardianship — or who have an interest in developing in those areas over time. As a firm, we see an opportunity to expand our service offering, and the right candidate may play a role in that.

If this sounds like you, keep reading.

Requirements

- Ontario licensee in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- 3–5+ years of post-call family law experience across divorce, custody, support, and property division
- Experience conducting trials considered an asset
- Demonstrated, active use of AI legal research and practice tools — required, not optional
- The ability to carry files independently and communicate proactively with clients
- Access to a vehicle for travel in the GTA

What You’ll Get

- Compensation: $110,000–$150,000 base salary, commensurate with experience and negotiable bonus structure
- Location: Richmond Hill Ontario — hybrid (2 days/week in-office standard)
- Group benefits (health and dental)
- LSO annual fees and LawPRO premium paid by the firm
- Education and CPD fund
- Mentorship from two partners who know what it takes to build a practice
- Exposure to complex, substantive family law matters with meaningful file autonomy from day one
- Business development opportunities to enable you to grow your practice A Word from David Anthony, Managing Partner

We are a small team, and we are intentional about who joins it. This is not a role for someone who needs a job. It is a role for someone who wants to build something and be part of a growing practice. If you want to own your work, develop your skillset, and help clients through some of the hardest moments of their lives with professionalism and clarity, this is a great place to build.

If you can see yourself as a member of a close-knit team that values accountability, good judgment, and steady growth, I encourage you to apply.

How to Apply

Send your resumé and a short cover letter to [email protected] with the subject line “AFL’s New Lawyer – [Your Name].” Ideally, we'd love a cover letter explaining why you are applying and your experinece using AI and legal technology. We are conducting a rolling review and will notify you of our decision within 45 days of your interview.
