Douglas Homes is a recognized home builder operating in Airdrie, Cochrane, Chestermere, and Calgary. As our company continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior Draftsperson to join our team.

We are seeking a motivated, organized, and technically strong individual who thrives in a fast-paced residential construction environment. The successful candidate will have strong residential drafting experience, excellent knowledge of construction and building codes, and the ability to independently manage drafting priorities while working collaboratively with our drafting and operations teams.

What You Will Do

- Prepare accurate and complete construction drawings for client and spec homes using Revit.

- Independently manage drafting assignments while meeting production targets and project deadlines.

- Review drawings for accuracy, constructability, consistency, and compliance with applicable building codes and requirements.

- Interpret architectural designs, engineering information, specifications, and construction requirements.

- Identify and resolve drafting, design, and construction-related issues proactively.

- Coordinate drawing requirements and revisions with estimating, construction, sales, and other internal departments.

- Support permitting and construction by responding to drawing-related questions and required revisions.

- Assist with take-offs and other technical information required by the estimating team.

- Provide technical support and guidance to other members of the drafting team – specifically including new building code changes.

- Contribute to the development and maintenance of drafting standards, details, templates, and processes.

- Manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

- Participate in cross-training and provide support to other departments where drafting and technical expertise are required.





- Take on additional responsibilities that may extend beyond traditional drafting as business needs require.

Experience & Knowledge Requirements

- Advanced proficiency in Revit is mandatory.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.

- Minimum 5-10 years of residential drafting experience preferred.

- Diploma or certificate in Architectural Technology, Architectural Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field is preferred.

- Strong knowledge of residential construction methods and practices.

- Strong working knowledge of applicable building codes and municipal requirements.

- Experience preparing permit and construction drawing packages.

- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering documentation.

- Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.

- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Demonstrated positive and proactive approach to work.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with drafting, estimating, construction, sales, and other departments.

- Flexibility and willingness to take on responsibilities outside of traditional drafting when required.

Schedule

Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Friday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Work Location: Calgary – In Person – Beltline, beginning January 2026

Salary: $XX per year, depending on experience
