The Opportunity Omcan is entering its next chapter: our Buffalo, New York distribution centre is coming online, our U.S. expansion is accelerating, and our warehouse network now spans multiple facilities across three markets. We are creating a new senior leadership role to own the entire physical flow of our business — every warehouse, every container, every skid, every shipment — from the moment product leaves a supplier's dock to the moment it arrives at a customer's door.
This role succeeds a long-tenured Director of Operations, with a planned transition and overlap period to hand off relationships, systems knowledge, and site history.
Reports to: Vice President
Direct reports: Supervisor of Logistics; Warehouse Manager; Inventory Control, and Parts & Service
Scope: All Omcan warehouses — three in Mississauga, ON; one in Los Angeles, CA; one in Buffalo, NY — all inbound and outbound freight, and the company delivery fleet
About the Role
Twelve months from now, you will have taken full ownership of our distribution network, brought the new Buffalo facility to full operating rhythm, and built a unified playbook for receiving, storage, fulfillment, and freight across all sites. You will lead an established team — the Supervisor of Logistics, the Warehouse Manager, the Inventory Control, Parts & Service Supervisor report directly to you — and you will be the executive accountable for service levels, freight cost, inventory accuracy, and warehouse safety across the company. You will also be responsible for our Joint Health & Safety Committee and maintenance.
What You'll Own
- Fulfillment performance across every site — consistent standards for receiving,
put-away, picking, packing, and shipping, for both skidded equipment and high-volume service parts, across multiple operating companies sharing the same network.
- Total landed freight cost and the company fleet — inbound international containers, cross-border Canada–U.S. moves, domestic LTL/FTL, and small parcel — including carrier selection, rate negotiation, routing, and claims, alongside our own delivery fleet: driver management, routing, vehicle maintenance, and transport compliance.
- Inventory accuracy and control across the full catalogue, in partnership with the Inventory Control Supervisor — cycle counts, bin-location discipline, shrink reduction, slotting, and space utilization, with clean system-to-shelf integrity in SAP.
- Reverse logistics, Parts & Service— returns, RAs, warranty parts, returns-to-vendor, and the credit process behind them — so returned product moves as deliberately as outbound product.
- Health & Safety compliance — Ontario OHSA and U.S. OSHA, powered equipment and forklift certification programs, WHMIS, joint health and safety committees, incident investigation — and cross-border trade compliance in partnership with our customs brokers, including HTS integrity, duty exposure, and trusted-trader programs.
- The numbers and the roadmap — the annual logistics and warehousing budget, a network KPI set (fill rate, on-time-in-full, cost per shipment, dock-to-stock, inventory accuracy) reported to the executive team, and the design and scaling of future distribution facilities as our U.S. footprint grows.
- Facilities, building maintenance, and regulatory compliance – oversee the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of all warehouse and distribution facilities; manage relationships with landlords, contractors, and service providers; ensure compliance with applicable building, fire, environmental, transportation, and occupational health and safety regulations; and coordinate responses to inspections, audits, claims, and other operational legal or regulatory matters in partnership with external advisors and company leadership.
What We're Looking For
Required
- 10+ years of progressive experience in distribution, logistics, or warehouse operations, including 5+ years leading leaders (supervisors/managers) in a multi-site environment.
- Hands-on experience managing significant freight spend,
including carrier and rate negotiation across container, LTL/FTL, and parcel modes.
- Experience with cross-border (Canada–U.S.) shipping, customs brokerage, and import/export compliance.
- Strong command of ERP and warehouse systems and data-driven performance management, including bin-location and inventory-transfer discipline.
- Working knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements in a warehouse environment, in both Canadian and U.S. jurisdictions.
- Ability to travel to the United States as required, including a valid passport and unrestricted eligibility to cross the Canada–U.S. border.
Preferred
- Experience in wholesale distribution of durable goods — foodservice equipment, industrial products, or similar high-SKU categories with a large service-parts business.
- Experience managing a company-owned delivery fleet and drivers.
- Familiarity with SAP, the ERP platform used across our business, is an asset.
- Experience opening, relocating, or scaling a new warehouse or distribution centre, and managing 3PL relationships in markets where we do not operate our own facility.

- Professional designation such as P.Log, CITT-Certified Logistics Skilled, CSCP, or CLTD.
