About Wah Teng Produce Ltd.

Wah Teng Produce Ltd. is a growing fresh-produce importer, wholesaler, distributor and supply-chain business serving customers across Canada and the United States, supported by farming and sourcing operations in Mexico.

We specialize in Asian produce and operate in a fast-paced environment involving sales, purchasing, warehousing, transportation, inventory management, cross-border logistics and farm coordination.

We are seeking a practical, hands-on Senior Operations Manager to strengthen execution, improve coordination between departments, develop standard operating procedures and reduce the company’s dependence on the CEO for routine operational follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

- Translate decisions made by the CEO and management team into clear action plans, responsibilities and deadlines.
- Follow up with department leaders and employees to ensure assigned work is completed properly and on time.
- Lead or coordinate operational meetings and track outstanding items through completion.
- Coordinate activities among sales, purchasing, warehouse, transportation, inventory, administration and accounting support.
- Improve communication among Canadian operations, U.S. operations, Mexican farms, suppliers, warehouses and other business partners.
- Review, document and improve standard operating procedures.
- Identify repeated problems, operational weaknesses, missing controls and business risks.
- Present practical recommendations to the CEO and implement approved improvements.
- Strengthen accountability and management discipline among department supervisors.
- Help department leaders improve their ability to identify problems, recommend solutions and manage their responsibilities.
- Support the implementation and daily use of Odoo or other ERP systems.
- Work with internal employees and external developers to ensure ERP processes reflect actual business operations.
- Improve inventory accuracy, information flow, management reporting and operational controls.
- Establish and monitor practical operational KPIs.
- Provide the CEO with concise weekly updates covering completed work, outstanding matters, risks and decisions required.

- Travel occasionally to U.S. or Mexican operations when required.

Sales and Purchasing Backup The responsibilities of the company’s current sales and purchasing leaders will remain unchanged. The Senior Operations Manager will gradually learn the company’s:
- Canadian and U.S. sales processes;
- Major customers and pricing structure;
- Inventory allocation and product-supply arrangements;
- Mexican sourcing and purchasing processes; and
- Selected purchasing processes for products sourced from China and California.

When a key sales or purchasing leader is on vacation, travelling, temporarily unavailable, managing a peak workload or dealing with an urgent situation, the Senior Operations Manager will provide temporary backup support to help maintain business continuity. During temporary coverage, the Senior Operations Manager will follow the company’s existing customer, pricing, purchasing and supply policies. Significant customer, pricing, purchasing or market decisions must be confirmed with the appropriate department leader or the CEO.

This backup responsibility is not intended to replace or permanently take over the duties of the company’s existing sales or purchasing leaders.

Qualifications

- At least five years of progressive experience in operations management, general management, supply-chain management or a related position.
- Previous experience managing supervisors, department leaders or cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to follow up on commitments and bring projects to completion.
- Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Practical experience with ERP, inventory or business-management systems.
- Experience with Odoo is an asset but is not required.
- Experience in food distribution, fresh produce,

wholesale, warehousing, transportation, logistics, importing, manufacturing or another fast-paced operating environment is strongly preferred.
- Basic experience coordinating sales, purchasing, inventory or supply-chain activities.
- Experience with Canadian and U.S. markets or cross-border operations is an asset.
- Experience working in an entrepreneurial, owner-operated or family-owned business is an asset.
- Willingness to learn the company’s specialized business and culture before recommending major changes.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- The ability to communicate in Mandarin or Cantonese is strongly preferred, as this position will regularly work with Chinese-speaking ownership, managers and business partners.
- Spanish is an asset but is not required.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Must be able to work in office in Richmond Hill, ON.

Work Schedule This is a full-time, salaried management position with a flexible, results-oriented work arrangement.

The schedule will be based on operational and business requirements, with generally one scheduled day off per week.

Regular on-site attendance will be required during the initial training period. Greater flexibility in working hours and location may be considered after the successful candidate develops a strong understanding of the business.

Further details will be discussed during the interview process.
