Senior Service Advisor

Bruiser Automotive & Tire – Peterborough, Ontario

Bruiser Automotive & Tire is looking for an experienced Senior Service Advisor to join our team.

This is a key front-of-house position for someone who understands automotive repair, can confidently build complete repair estimates, communicates well with customers, and knows how to keep a busy shop organized and moving efficiently.

Our Service Advisors are directly involved in the entire repair process — from customer intake and technician communication to parts lookup, labour estimating, work-order preparation, quoting, authorization, and final delivery.

Responsibilities

- Greet customers and accurately document vehicle concerns and service requests.
- Create and manage complete repair orders from initial intake through final invoicing.
- Review technician inspection results, diagnostic findings, and repair recommendations.
- Build complete customer estimates and work-order quotes, including:
- Parts
- Labour
- Shop supplies and applicable fees
- Sublet services when required
- Tires, wheels, TPMS components, and related products
- Research and identify the correct automotive parts for each repair.
- Source parts from appropriate suppliers while considering availability, quality, warranty, and cost.
- Verify part numbers, fitment, pricing, and availability before quoting repairs.
- Contact suppliers regarding special-order parts, backorders, warranties, credits, and returns.
- Determine appropriate labour times using available labour guides, shop information, and technician input.
- Present estimates and repair recommendations clearly and professionally to customers.
- Obtain and accurately document customer authorization before work proceeds.
- Sell recommended repairs and maintenance based on actual vehicle condition and technician findings.
- Maintain regular communication with customers regarding repair status, additional findings, pricing changes, and completion times.
- Coordinate workflow between customers, technicians, parts suppliers, and management.
- Prioritize repairs and appointments to help maximize technician productivity and shop efficiency.




- Update work orders as additional repairs are identified or approved.
- Review work orders for accuracy, completeness, and profitability before invoicing.
- Ensure all parts, labour, notes, inspections, authorizations, and technician recommendations are properly documented.
- Schedule service appointments and assist with phone, text, email, and online inquiries.
- Handle customer concerns professionally and help resolve issues when they arise.
- Assist and mentor other service staff with complex estimates, parts sourcing, customer situations, and workflow decisions.
- Follow up with customers on deferred repairs and recommended maintenance.
- Help maintain an organized, professional, and efficient service department.

What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as an automotive Service Advisor, Service Writer, Parts Advisor, Assistant Service Manager, or similar role.
- Strong working knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance.
- Experience creating complete automotive repair estimates and work orders.
- Strong automotive parts knowledge and experience using electronic parts catalogues.
- Ability to identify and source the correct parts for a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
- Experience using labour guides and estimating labour requirements.
- Strong understanding of pricing, gross profit, and repair-order profitability.
- Ability to understand technician inspection reports, diagnostic results, and repair recommendations.
- Strong sales and customer-service skills.
- Excellent organization and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple customers, vehicles, technicians, suppliers, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Confidence handling difficult customer conversations and resolving concerns.




- Robust computer skills and experience with automotive shop-management software.
- Knowledge of tires, wheels, alignments, brakes, suspension, maintenance, diagnostics, and general automotive repair.
- A valid Ontario driver's licence.

Experience with Tekmetric or similar shop-management software is considered an asset. Senior-Level Expectations

This is a hands-on automotive service position and is not simply a receptionist or appointment-booking role.

The Senior Service Advisor is expected to convert a technician's findings into a complete, accurate, and professional repair estimate.

This includes identifying required parts, sourcing and pricing parts, determining labour requirements, preparing the work order, presenting the repair to the customer, obtaining authorization, and managing the job through completion.

The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of the service process, support technicians, assist other service staff, solve problems, and help keep the shop operating efficiently and profitably.

Compensation will be based on experience, automotive knowledge, estimating ability, and overall skill level.

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
