We are looking for a Server who understands that hospitality is about more than simply taking orders. Our servers are an important part of creating the warm, polished, and memorable experience our guests expect when they visit The Ivy.

The Role

As a Server at The Ivy, you will be responsible for providing attentive, knowledgeable, and personable service from the moment guests arrive until they leave.

You should be confident speaking with guests, comfortable learning an extensive menu, and able to maintain a high standard of service during both relaxed café service and busy high tea and event periods.

Responsibilities

- Welcome and engage guests with warm, professional hospitality
- Provide attentive table service throughout the guest experience
- Accurately take and enter food and beverage orders
- Provide knowledgeable recommendations on tea, food, bakery items, high tea offerings, wine, cocktails, and other beverages
- Explain menu items, ingredients, allergens, and dietary options when requested
- Deliver food and beverages promptly and according to The Ivy's service standards
- Maintain awareness of guest needs and anticipate requests whenever possible
- Provide polished service during high tea, private events, and special occasions
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly set tables and service areas
- Complete opening, closing, side-work, and cleaning duties
- Process payments accurately using the POS system
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen, bakery, bar, and front-of-house team




- Handle guest questions and concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace procedures
- Support other areas of the business when required — we are a team, and no task is beneath anyone
- Help create a positive, respectful, and professional workplace

What We're Looking For
- Previous serving or hospitality experience is an asset
- A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Qualified, friendly, and confident personality
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm and organized during busy service periods
- Comfortable learning and speaking confidently about food, tea, beverages, and menu offerings
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to the team
- Reliable, punctual, and accountable
- Comfortable working evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required
- POS experience is an asset
- ProServe certification is an asset
