Hammersmith is a boutique construction management firm based in Mississauga, delivering commercial, industrial and tenant improvement projects for clients across the Greater Toronto Area and Canada. We are small enough that your work gets noticed and big enough to keep a steady pipeline of interesting projects. We are growing and looking for superintendents who can own a site and deliver.

The Role

You will run projects in the $1 million to $5 million range at the site level, largely on your own. You will be the person on site who keeps trades moving, keeps the site safe, and keeps the project on schedule, working closely with the Project Manager on cost, changes and client communication.

What You Will Do

- Run day-to-day site operations on industrial, commercial and institutional projects: tenant improvements, office and retail fit-outs, industrial and warehouse work, renovations and base building upgrades
- Plan and manage the site schedule (look-aheads, sequencing, trade coordination) and keep the Project Manager informed of risks early
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and site labour
- Own site safety: run orientations, toolbox talks and inspections, and keep the site compliant with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Hammersmith’s safety program
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications and shop drawings; flag conflicts and Requests for Information before they become problems
- Coordinate with consultants, inspectors, landlords and building management




- Track and document potential changes and back up change orders with site records
- Keep daily logs, site photos and progress reports up to date
- Manage quality control, deficiencies, commissioning and closeout
- Represent Hammersmith professionally with clients and occupied-building stakeholders

What You Bring

- 5 or more years of construction experience, including at least 3 years as a Site Superintendent running industrial, commercial and institutional projects independently
- Proven track record delivering $1 million to $5 million projects from mobilization to closeout
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects
- Working at Heights, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System and Supervisor Health and Safety Awareness training (or willingness to obtain)
- Solid understanding of building systems (mechanical, electrical, fire and life safety) and how trades sequence
- Comfortable with scheduling tools, Jonas, and Microsoft Office
- Clear communicator who can hold trades accountable and keep clients calm
- Valid Class G driver’s licence and reliable vehicle; ability to travel to sites across the Greater Toronto Area

Pay: $95,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
