The Recreation department of the Community Engagement and Cultural Services division has an opportunity for interested individuals to apply for the casual position of Skate Host at Meadow Park Sports Centre (MPSC). Reporting to the Guest Services Coordinator, this position offers a variable schedule during MPSC's operational hours of 6 a.m. Standard shifts are 11:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. but can vary due to operational needs and over holidays.

Ideal candidates would commit to at least 2 shifts per week with an option to work more when needed.

The Skate





Host role is a combination of skate shop and skate patrol duties during busy public skating sessions at MPSC.

The Skate

Host is responsible for providing exceptional guest service while controlling the use of the ice area, providing basic first aid as needed, enforcing rules and regulations to ensure public safety, and providing skate rentals and helmets to guests.

Skate

Hosts are also responsible for the general upkeep and organization of the skate shop and arena lobby. Preference will be given to applicants with previous guest service experience.

Experience working in an arena or a recreation setting and sharpening skates are considered solid assets. The successful candidate is customer service focused with a professional, approachable, and helpful demeanor; In addition to the hourly wage, casual employees at the RMOW receive 12% of their regular earnings in lieu of employee benefits.
