The Opportunity

Calgary, AB • Full-Time • Hybrid (3 Days In office / 2 Remote)

A growing payments technology company is seeking a mid-level Software Developer to build and improve the systems that power how merchants are paid. You’ll work across settlement, funding, accounting, reconciliation and reserves, developing reliable software that connects directly to banking partners and supports the accuracy of financial operations.

What You'll Do

- Translate product requirements into scalable, maintainable software solutions.
- Independently design and deliver full-stack features across financial payment systems.
- Build and maintain APIs and services supporting settlement, funding and reconciliation.
- Develop clean, tested code focused on reliability, performance and data integrity.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, DevOps, Data and Risk teams to define solutions.
- Work directly with operational teams to understand needs and refine delivery scope.
- Build and improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines to increase engineering automation.
- Deploy and maintain applications across cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP.
- Monitor production systems, investigate issues and implement stability improvements.
- Analyze BigQuery data to identify insights and support operational decisions.
- Improve development processes, engineering standards and technical practices.
- Contribute to architecture and technical decisions across multiple services.
- Mentor colleagues and share technical knowledge across the engineering organization.
- Take ownership of technical projects involving multiple developers.




- Continuously evaluate new technologies and approaches to improve engineering outcomes.

What We Are Looking For

- 4–5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Experience independently delivering features and leading technical projects.
- Strong experience with MySQL or other SQL databases and query optimization.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language; PHP/Laravel is an asset.
- Experience with Vue 3 or comparable frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Experience developing APIs and working with API-first architectures.
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
- Experience with BigQuery or comparable data warehouse technologies.
- Strong understanding of software development, testing and engineering practices.
- Ability to collaborate directly with Product and operational teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ownership of solutions from development through production.
- Ability to communicate technical ideas and influence engineering decisions.
- Continuous-learning mindset and willingness to experiment with new approaches.
- Familiarity with Kafka event-driven architectures is an asset.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes deployments is an asset.
