Skills & Qualifications
Minimum:
- Graduate of a recognized/accredited North American Program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasonography).
- Current registration with Sonography Canada as either a Generalist or Cardiac Sonographer
- Five years of recent experience in the Sonography profession
- Willingness to complete the BC Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP)
- Comprehensive knowledge of theory and practice for Cardiac and/or General Sonography.
- Broad knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic cardiac/general sonographic equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform sonographic examinations in compliance with professional standards/competencies.
- Demonstrated computer literacy skills
- Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position for demonstration/teaching purposes.
Preferred:
- Current registration with Sonography Canada as a Dual General/Cardiac Sonographer
- At least two years of recent experience in the performance of both Echocardiography and Generalist exams
- Teaching experience in sonography education or clinical instructing
- Diversity of employment experience, including administration and/or project work
- Completion of the BC Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP)
- Masters degree in a related field of study
