Store Manager – Two Donkeys Bakery, Vernon

Two Donkeys Bakery is looking for a strong, hands-on Store Manager to lead our Vernon location.

We are a growing local bakery and café known for our European-style baking, quality products, and friendly customer service. For this role, we are not looking for someone who simply manages from the sidelines. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of the team, works alongside their employees, and leads through their own example.

As Store Manager, you will set the tone for the Vernon store every day. Your attitude, work ethic, organization, cleanliness, customer service, and willingness to step in when needed should demonstrate the standards you expect from your team.

A successful manager at Two Donkeys is someone who sees what needs to be done and takes care of it. During a busy rush, you help the team. If a customer needs assistance, you step in. If something is not clean, organized, stocked, or presented properly, you take responsibility for fixing it. We believe strong leadership starts with being willing to do the same work you expect from others.

What You Will Be Responsible For

- Lead the Vernon team and create a positive, respectful, and productive work environment
- Work side by side with the team on the sales floor rather than managing only from behind the scenes
- Lead by example in customer service, reliability, teamwork, cleanliness, efficiency, and professionalism
- Support employees during busy periods and step into any area of the store when needed
- Ensure every customer receives friendly, attentive, and professional service
- Train, coach, and support employees so they understand what is expected and have the tools to succeed
- Hold employees accountable while maintaining a fair and respectful working environment
- Create and maintain staff schedules based on the needs of the business
- Manage staffing levels and labour hours responsibly
- Ensure the store is properly opened, operated, and closed each day
- Maintain high standards for cleanliness, hygiene, organization, and food-handling procedures
- Ensure products are displayed attractively and consistently throughout the day




- Keep the store stocked and make sure shortages or operational issues are addressed quickly
- Monitor inventory and assist with ordering as required
- Handle customer concerns professionally and find practical solutions
- Identify problems before they become bigger issues and take initiative to solve them
- Communicate clearly with ownership and management about staffing, operations, maintenance, customer feedback, and other store matters
- Work together with our other Two Donkeys locations when support or coordination is needed
- Look for ways to improve store operations, efficiency, presentation, customer experience, and team performance
- Take genuine ownership of the overall success of the Vernon location

Experience Previous management or supervisory experience is required, preferably in retail,



food service, hospitality, cafés, bakeries, or another customer-focused environment.

We are looking for someone who already has experience leading a team, taking responsibility for day-to-day operations, and handling the challenges that come with managing people and a busy customer-facing business.

Experience is important, but so is leadership style. We are looking for someone who leads by example, works alongside the team, communicates clearly, and takes genuine ownership of the Vernon location.

About the Role This is a hands-on management position.

The person we hire should expect to spend a significant part of their working day on the floor with the team. This is not an office-based management position.

We want our employees to be able to look at their manager and see the standard they are expected to follow.

Pay: $45,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
