Compensation:** $1,200/week — approximately $26.00- $30/hour

About Molnar Welding Ltd.Molnar Welding Ltd. is a Nova Scotia-based structural steel and fabrication company serving industrial, commercial, marine, and custom fabrication clients.We are looking for an experienced Structural Steel Draftsperson / Detailer to join our team. This position plays an important role in taking projects from concept and engineering requirements through to accurate fabrication drawings and production.

The Role The successful candidate will prepare accurate 2D and 3D drawings, shop drawings, material take-offs, specifications, and documentation packages while working closely with our production, estimating, engineering, and project teams.

Responsibilities - Prepare structural steel shop drawings and fabrication drawings.

Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings and models.

Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and production drawings.

Prepare design sketches and construction specifications.

Prepare material take-offs and cost estimates.

Complete drawing sets and documentation packages.

Review drawings for accuracy, conformity, and errors.

Communicate with clients, engineers, production specialists, and project managers.

Make revisions based on engineering, client, and production requirements.

Support quality assurance and quality control processes.

Assist with estimating and project planning.

Maintain accurate and organized project documentation.





Work closely with the fabrication team to ensure drawings are practical and production-ready.

Operate or work with a CNC plasma cutting table as required.

Qualifications- Secondary school diploma or equivalent.

3–5 years of relevant drafting/detailing experience.

Experience in structural steel, metal fabrication, construction, marine, or industrial environments is strongly preferred. Solid AutoCAD skills.

Experience producing structural steel shop drawings.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Strong understanding of fabrication and welding processes.

Experience with 3D modelling software such as SolidWorks is an asset.

Experience with estimating software/packages is an asset.

CNC plasma cutting table experience is an asset.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Security Requirements The successful candidate must be bondable and willing to complete applicable security requirements, which may include criminal record checks and project-specific security clearances.
