Position Summary
South Country Co-op is seeking a friendly and customer-focused Deli Clerk to join our team at the 13th Ave Food Store in Medicine Hat, AB. If you’re passionate about providing exceptional customer experiences, we’d love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

Provide outstanding service to customers in a prompt and friendly manner

Prepare deli items such as salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and specialty meats

Stock, rotate, and merchandise deli products to ensure quality and freshness

Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety

Operate deli tools and equipment safely and efficiently

Assist with product ordering and inventory control

Follow proper handling, preparation, and storage protocols

Work collaboratively as part of a diverse and multi-generational team

Deliver excellent customer service by assisting customers, promoting merchandise, and ensure customer needs, preferences, and expectations are met

Educate customers on the perks of membership in South Country Co-op

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Must be at least 15 years of age and completed Grade 9

Previous deli or retail experience is an asset

Knowledge of deli products and preparation techniques preferred

Physically able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs (22.5 kg) and perform daily tasks such as standing, bending, and shelving

Comfortable working in temperature-controlled environments (coolers, freezers)

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

High level of integrity, initiative,



and professionalism

Positive attitude and commitment to learning

Ability to work independently and adapt to new technologies

Effective in fast-paced, changing environments

Demonstrated ability to treat others with respect, tact, and diplomacy

Work Schedule
This position requires full availability, including days, evenings, and weekends.
