Senior Business Data Analyst - Commercial Banking Client Duration: 12 - 24 Months Location: Toronto (Hybrid) Overview: We are seeking a Senior Business Data Analyst to support a Commercial Banking team with data analysis, reporting, and business decision support.

The successful candidate will extract and interpret data, identify trends and insights, and translate findings into practical recommendations for business stakeholders.

The role requires strong hands-on capabilities across data analysis, business reporting, Power BI, advanced Excel, and SQL , combined with strong business acumen and stakeholder communication skills.

Key Responsibilities Extract, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources to support business decision-making.

Identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and opportunities within business and operational data.

Translate analytical findings into clear insights and actionable business recommendations.

Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations .

Perform detailed analysis and reporting using advanced Excel .

Query and manipulate data using SQL .

Work with business stakeholders to understand analytical and reporting needs.

Present findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Support ad hoc analysis, KPI reporting, and data-driven business initiatives.





Must-Have Qualifications Senior-level Business Data Analyst experience within a large, complex organization.

Experience within Commercial Banking, Business Banking, Financial Services, or a closely related workplace .

Strong hands-on experience with data extraction, analysis, interpretation, and business reporting .

Demonstrated ability to convert data into business insights and actionable recommendations , rather than simply producing reports.

Strong Power BI experience, including dashboard and report development.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, Pivot

Tables, data manipulation, and analytical reporting.

Strong SQL skills for querying and analyzing large and/or complex datasets.

Experience with data modelling, KPI development, management reporting, and/or executive reporting .

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Strong stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications Python experience for data analysis, automation, or data manipulation. SAS experience.

Experience with additional analytics, statistical, or data visualization tools.

Exposure to data automation, predictive analytics, or statistical modelling.

Experience working with large enterprise data platforms or data warehouses.
