Senior AI Software Engineer (Contract) Start Date: ASAP Duration: Overall Duration: 12+ Months with possibility of extension; initial contract to go to December to align with client fiscal year guidelines Location: Hybrid - 3 days per week - Brampton or North York Department: Analytics and Data Products Overview Our client, Canada's largest retailer is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join their team on a high visibility, multi-year project.

The project centres around our client’s promotion planning platform, enabling merchants to build, optimize, forecast, and submit promotional plans across multiple retail banners.

As the organization expands its enterprise AI capabilities through the new AEGIS platform, we are looking for an experienced Senior AI Software Engineer to help integrate AI into the application’s existing workflows and user experiences.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building production-quality software rather than AI research.

Initially, the successful candidate will contribute as a senior backend engineer while learning the PARROT platform.

Over time, they will become the technical leader for integrating AI agents and intelligent workflows into the application, partnering closely with Product Management, Software Engineering, and the enterprise AI platform teams.

Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain backend services supporting the application using Python.

Integrate the application with the enterprise AEGIS AI platform and associated agent services.

Design and implement AI-powered features that solve real merchandising and promotional planning problems.

Collaborate with Product Managers to translate business workflows into scalable AI-enabled solutions.

Partner closely with enterprise AI platform teams to understand platform capabilities, limitations, governance, and integration patterns.





Help define technical approaches for AI agents that align with enterprise architecture and security standards.

Develop APIs and services that enable AI agents to interact safely with existing business workflows.

Build production-ready solutions with appropriate logging, monitoring, testing, and observability.

Participate in solution design, estimation, architecture discussions, and technical planning.

Mentor other developers as AI capabilities become integrated throughout the application.

Contribute to engineering standards and best practices for enterprise AI development.

Required Qualifications 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.

Strong Python development experience building enterprise applications.

Experience designing REST APIs and backend services.

Experience building or integrating AI/LLM solutions into production applications.

Experience working with Large Language Models and contemporary AI development frameworks.

Experience developing AI Agents or agent orchestration workflows.

Strong understanding of prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and AI application architecture.

Experience deploying cloud-native applications on GCP, Azure, or AWS.

Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals including testing, CI/CD, version control, and API design.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications Experience integrating with enterprise AI platforms.

Experience with Lang

Graph, CrewAI, OpenAI Agents SDK, or similar orchestration frameworks.





Experience with vector databases and semantic search.

Experience working within large enterprise organizations.

Experience developing software for retail, merchandising, supply chain, pricing, or forecasting domains.

Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and event-driven architectures.

Experience implementing AI evaluation, monitoring, and observability practices.
