We’re a small, outdoorsy family on Gabriola Island looking for a kind, reliable and experienced nanny to help care for our 18-month-old son.

We’re looking to start with one day a week for around 4 to 6 hours, with the possibility of adding more hours in the future if it ends up being a good fit.

Our little guy is happy, curious and active.

He loves playing, exploring, books and being involved in whatever is going on.

Most of the childcare will take place in our home, with playtime, activities, meals, diaper changes and his usual routine. I will also be home for the majority of the time, especially at first. I’m looking for some extra support so I can get things done around the house, catch up on cleaning, take care of things I normally can’t get done with a toddler around, or take one of our dogs out for some one-on-one time.

As we get to know each other and build trust, I may eventually feel comfortable stepping out for short periods, but I’d like to take that slowly and naturally.

We also have a busy household with two dogs, a cat and rabbits, so being comfortable around animals is key.

Our dogs need to be managed and separated from our smaller pets at times,



so it’s important that you’re comfortable following our pet-safety routines and making sure everyone stays safely separated when needed.

The main responsibility will be caring for our son.

This would include preparing simple meals and snacks, diaper changes, nap/quiet time, playing with him, keeping him entertained and tidying up after him.

There may also be some basic pet-related responsibilities, such as letting the dogs out or helping make sure the animals are safely managed. I’m looking for someone who is warm, patient, dependable, safety-conscious and genuinely enjoys spending time with toddlers.

Previous experience with toddlers is important, and CPR/First Aid would be preferred. I’d love to find someone who can become a familiar and trusted person in our family’s life and build a great relationship with our little guy.
