What You’ll Do

As a Thermal Design Engineer, you will:

- Lead thermal and mechanical design of air coolers, shell & tube heat exchangers, waste heat boilers, and sulfur condensers.
- Perform thermal and vibration analyses , ensuring compliance with codes and client specifications.
- Review, check, and approve engineering work—providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Support proposals by preparing engineering design packages, calculations,



and technical input during bid stages.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Quality, Business Development) to align solutions with project and client goals.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and technical discussions.
- Stamp/sign deliverables as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng).
- Drive continuous improvement by enhancing processes, leveraging digital tools, and embedding energy efficiency and sustainability in design.

What You Bring

Required

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- 10–15 years’ experience in a heavy industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
- Proficiency with HTRI software and proven expertise in thermal analysis & vibration.
- Strong knowledge of pressure vessel design codes (ASME, API, ABSA).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.

Requirements/Assets

- Active P.Eng. designation.
- Structural engineering experience.

Work Environment

- Primarily office-based in Calgary, WFH 5 days/month, with occasional shop visits.
- Minimal travel required.
- Fast-paced, project-driven environment with multiple priorities.
