Albion Animal Hospital is a small animal veterinary practice in Maple Ridge, BC, seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist to join our team.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Answering phones, scheduling appointments, and checking clients in and out.
- Providing a warm, welcoming, and professional experience for patients and their owners.
- Performing general housekeeping duties and maintaining cleanliness throughout the hospital, including reception, exam rooms, patient holding areas, and common spaces.
- Recording patient vital signs, including weight, temperature, blood pressure, and respiratory rate.
- Assisting the veterinarian with examinations, treatments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures.
- Providing excellent customer service and assisting with product sales.
- Receiving and organizing mail and package deliveries and completing other administrative tasks.
- Preparing invoices, processing payments, and updating client accounts.
- Maintaining accurate medical records and patient information.
- Safely handling and restraining animals as required.
- Administering medications under veterinary supervision and direction.

- Willingness to assist with examinations, treatments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures.
- Willingness to learn basic veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and infection-control procedures.
- Reliability, punctuality, a positive attitude, and a strong willingness to learn.
- Ability to reliably commute to Maple Ridge, BC, or relocate before starting employment.
- Availability to work rotating shifts, including weekdays and both Saturday and Sunday.

Preferred Experience and Education

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience handling or caring for dogs and cats.




- Previous experience in a veterinary hospital or animal care facility.
- Veterinary Assistant diploma or equivalent training.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal restraint, patient vital signs, and veterinary software.
- Previous experience assisting with animal examinations, treatments, or routine hospital procedures.

Previous veterinary experience and formal training are preferred but not mandatory. Training will be provided to the right candidate who demonstrates compassion for animals, attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.

Schedule

- Rotating 8-hour shifts, including day, afternoon, and evening shifts as scheduled.
- Availability to work 1–2 weekdays per week is required.
- Availability to work both Saturday and Sunday is mandatory.
- Overtime may be required based on operational needs.

Location and Commute Albion Animal Hospital is located in Maple Ridge, BC. Applicants must be able to reliably commute to the hospital or be willing to relocate before starting employment.
