Classification Summary - Union

Join our City of Kelowna team as a Wastewater Treatment Operator II. Our Wastewater Treatment Facility serves approximately 80 per cent of Kelowna’s population, protecting Okanagan Lake and the connected waterways.

As a Wastewater Treatment Operator II, you will monitor and make adjustments at the wastewater treatment processes and wastewater (including storm water) collection systems in compliance with all regulatory and safety regulations. You will troubleshoot equipment and perform preventative and emergency maintenance/repairs along with basic sampling and testing of wastewater quality.

Duties - Union

- Operates, inspects, maintains, monitors, troubleshoots and repairs or replaces equipment.
- Operates computer systems and monitors/adjusts operational processes.
- Performs work safely and supports the city’s health and safety program.
- Performs sampling, testing and recording of wastewater quality.
- Analyzes lab work for trends and patterns and completes data entries.
- Ensures transfer of information to other team members.
- Provides guidance, instruction and direction to other operators.
- Provides technical data to other team members contractors, engineers.
- Responds to enquiries from the public and other departments.

Posting Text Physical Demands lifting approx. 28Kgs, walking long distances, confined space, using ladder to ascend and descent, working in all weather conditions, ability to work after hours if required.

Placed on the On-Call Rotation.

Also working in Wastewater Collections and Industrial Wastewater Facility
